Sustainable softwood interior and exterior doorsJames Riggall Fine Joinery designed, manufactured and installed this secret interior door for a house in Broadhempston, Devon

If you are looking to have sustainable softwood internal or external doors, we can manufacture either of these using the ever popular Accoya wood.

Accoya wood is sustainable, durable, dimensionally stable and easy to maintain. It can be opaque coated in a colour of your choice or if you are looking for a natural wood finish the doors can be finished in a translucent coating. Accoya wood not only has incredibly low thermal conductivity but it also matches and sometimes exceeds the durability and dimensional stability of some of the best tropical hardwoods. Accoyas low maintenance requirements mean that it is a cost effective option and also adds to its environmental credentials. Accoya wood has been modified using a acetylation process however, this does not weaken the original wood – in fact its hardness is improved.

We also manufacture softwood interior doors from Tulipwood which has a pinkish, yellowish colour and is traditionally painted, stained or spray finished. Tulipwood is very light in weight however, it is also very strong. It can be easily stained and is often used as a low-cost alternative to Walnut and Cherry hardwoods.
