Sapele Sash windows

Sapele is reminiscent of Mahogany as it is a member of the same family. It has been given a 40 year approximate lifespan durability by TRADA (The Timber Research and Development Association). We would typically use Sapele hardwood for sash windows that have a hand painted or spray finish and we would recommend to maximise the lifespan of your sash windows, that they are painted every five years.

Iroko Sash Windows

The hardest and most durable of these three hardwoods and does not require regular treatment. It is sometimes referred to as African Teak although, it is unrelated to the Teak family. Iroko is initially yellow in colour however, darkens to a rich brown over time. Although it requires little treatment we would always advise adding a UV protective Osmo Oil as this will prolong the life of the sash window (which, even untreated, will last much longer than our lifetimes!).

Oak Sash Windows

Oak has great strength and hardness, because of its high tannin content it is very resistant to insect and fungal attack. Oak is very popular as it has beautiful markings, particularly when quarter sawn and finished with a UV protection Osmo Oil.

Our windows are built using the traditional wedged mortise and tenon joint, fitted with Aquamac 21 draft excluder and a hardwood sill for extra durability. We only use the highest quality Ironmongery, all hinges and screws are stainless steel and all glass used when double glazing, has a planitherm coating which is designed to absorb the suns heat from the outside and reflects heat from the internal of the building which keeps the room warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer months also giving improved thermal and acoustic efficiency.

We manufacture sash windows which are fully factory fitted with draft excluders into the inside lining on all four sides, parting beads and staff beads eliminating draughts and stopping rattles.
