James Riggall Fine Joinery Limited is a small, family-run company, that recognises the importance of each individual project.

James’ 11 years working as a bench joiner, and our personal experiences renovating houses, mean that we understand the upheaval of having work done in your home. It is our goal to make the process as peaceful as possible, from keeping the radio down to cleaning up each evening. Our woodcutting power tools even connect to portable extractors, keeping dust to a minimum.

With hard work and perseverance, we have grown and expanded our business. We have a polite, trustworthy team who share our passionate belief in our products, in the details of every job, and in providing the highest levels of customer service.

Our new joinery workshop is on the beautiful Bishops Court Gardens Estate in Clyst St Mary, a suburb of Exeter. By prior arrangement, we always welcome our customers to visit us and discuss a project or to view the manufacturing process. We look forward to meeting you.

 James Riggall, Managing Director

James studied to NVQ level 3 standard in Bench Joinery and he left college with the highly acclaimed Trainee of the Year award, which is recognised by the Federation of National Builders. His love of joinery and all things wooden comes from spending time with his grandfather, whose own father was a master cabinet-maker. James spent hours listening to stories about his great-grandfather while they cleaned and oiled the tools he had once used. These tools now live at the James Riggall Fine Joinery workshop in the original toolbox made by Jamess’ great-grandfather, and James still uses them to this day.

James is passionate, enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgeable about joinery. He has a great eye for detail and design, which is noticeable in everything that he produces.

Kate Riggall, Sales and Marketing Director

Kate brings a great energy to the office. She is passionate about the company and prides herself in providing outstanding customer service. Until recently Kate has stayed on the side lines of the business, but she has regularly stepped up to the mark when needed. From making endless cups of tea to general labouring or completing the final clean on site, she has always been by James?s side.

With a real love of all things beautiful, Kate truly appreciates James’s work and has been lucky enough to experience at first hand the fine craftsmanship of everything that he produces. If you have any queries, she is on hand to answer them or to point you in the right direction.

 The manufacturing team

There are currently two members of our small manufacturing team who work closely alongside James. They are personable, diligent and work to the high standards that James sets. No job is too big or too small: they are always happy to make your ideas become a reality.

Anthony trained to become a bench joiner with James at Exeter College. He shares the same love of the job and is extremely meticulous.

Brandon is James’s apprentice and, although this is his first time working in a joinery workshop, he is already a valuable addition to the team.

We were extremely happy with the bespoke cupboard doors that James made for us.  They are a perfect replica of the existing 1930’s door we have throughout our house. We  were also impressed with the professional way James quoted, and delivered on time the doors we required.  We would definitely ask him again if we needed any further carpentry done.
